I just today had my front bumper stolen when parked up on the street in Birmingham (in an area that where all the industry has been closed for redevelopment) - stupid place to park, I suppose. The police said it was the third Fiesta bumper theft today that they knew of. Does anyone know how much the replacement (including spots, paint, etc) is likely to cost?

Cheers

I had my front bumper stolen too, and i live in Brum. I went through the insurance but the overall job came to about £700 I think. And the bodyshop had another ST in (for the second time) having a new bumper too. Sorry to hear that it is happening still, hope you get your car fixed soon. Glad you reported it too, I did as well so maybe they will be able to catch the idiots you never know.

Thank for those replies. The theft actually included the side skirts and some wheel trims. The man from the garage said it was funny that they left the spoiler. Maybe they were disturbed. My recommendation is to avoid the streets around Curzon Street in Birmingham's Eastside area. The industry has all been closed down pending redevelopment and it is a handy place to park - but not safe. Glad my excess is only £200.

Cheers.

Maybe we can all pool our ideas on how to try and secure these parts more securely,i'm certainly going to have a good look closer when iv'e got a hour or two. Is curzon st the place were the old royal mail yard used to be near the millenium point ?

Although not a method of securing them perhaps we could mark the parts with those infra-red pens (not sure of the actual name of them but they write invisibly and show up under infra-red or black light or some such) and then at least if they crop up on eBay in the local area some bast might get caught red-handed. ?

Ive not got mine yet to look at it but it worries me that these bits are so easily removed.

Without giving too much away on a public forum are they that easy to remove or is it just folks leaving their cars in an supervised places? Which one should be able to do btw.

If it involves lifting the bonnet or jacking the car up perhaps an alarmed bonnet sensor (not sure if it has one as standard) or a tilt sensor respectively?

I can say that the standard alarm does go off if the bonnet is opened when the alarm is set.

well if someone hears the alarm and does something about it!!!

I may need to invert in a better alarm or at least upgrade. Does anyone know if extras can be bolted onto the standard ford alarm like a modular alarm. WOuld want a pager again and a proximeter sensor to warn people away!

I think for cat 1 insurance reasons you would be better fitting an additional LOUD alarm and using both to satisfy your insurance co. thats what i've done , your additional alarm is your secret not to be disclosed on a public forum ?????
